Hwy 68 south of Courtland reopened
MANKATO, Minn. (10:00 a.m.) – Highway 68 west of County Road 24 (south of Courtland) has reopened to traffic, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The highway was closed earlier this morning due to a mudslide.
Officials have cleared mud and debris from the roadway. Recent heavy rainfall can cause mudslides without warning. MnDOT will continue to closely monitor area roads.
Highways open:
- Highway 68 south of Courtland (closed and reopened May 14 due to a mudslide)
Highways closed:
- Highway 93 from Henderson to Highway 169 (closed May 14 due to flooding)
When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
